The site of the future water-treatment plant is situated on the municipality of Valenciennes, in a zone of 23 ha, at the North of the city. The objective is to create a water-treatment plant, which is the mainspring of the creation of a new district ‘ the district of Epaix ‘. This natural city fragment, is going to begin its reconversion to pass from an abandoned industrial site, to a thoughtful, qualitative and respectful urban fabric.

Treated HEQ® targets :

Target 1 : harmonious relation between building and environment

  • Good integration in the landscape and the plot of land thanks to a screen raised in the right of the wet zones, and flowery meadows, which will be strengthened and structured. The mirror effect of the metallic cladding of the urban facade strengthens the low impact of the construction towards the neighborhood.

  • The exploitation building is mutualized with the detached house of the innovation, and in direct link with the greenhouse, to mark the programmatic integration; compactness of the hydraulic works positioned ‘inside’ the plot of land, framed by the technical buildings which mark the rational setting of the station OVAL.

Target 2 : integrated choices of products, systems and procedure of construction

  • Laminated wood and natural wood cladding

  • Skeleton and metallic bardage

  • Low wall in gabions

  • Brick built facing of raw earth

  • Green wall

Target 4 : energy management

Target 5 : water management

Target 9 : Acoustic comfort

    • Exploitation building labellisable Minergie A

    • Technical buildings labellisables Minergie P

    • Termal Solar cells : 13m²

    • Photovoltaïc solar cells : 250m²

    • Rain water treatment of the roof with a vegetalisation : more than 2000m²

    • Treatment run off water by vegetated and honeycombed paving stones

    • Isolation in agro-materials: absorbent cotton of cellulose, wooden wool and expanded cork
