CONSTRUCTION STARTS ON THE ECO-CONSTRUCTION OF PHOTOVOLTAIC CANOPIES OVER A SUSTAINABLE PARKING AREA – SUB-OPERATION 2 AT THE LONGUEVILLE DRINKING WATER PLANT (77)

A new milestone marking the start of construction and the implementation of the environmental ambitions led by Eau de Paris, the project owner, with the expertise of AR ARCHITECTES, in collaboration with engineering consultants EUROELEC SMART ENERGY and BOST INGENIERIE.

The works include the construction of a 450 m² photovoltaic canopy, made of glulam timber, above the parking spaces, as well as the development of 1,450 m² of heavy-duty access roads and paved areas.

A key component of the project’s energy strategy, the photovoltaic canopy is expected to generate approximately 115 MWh/year. The electricity produced will be used for self-consumption at the drinking water plant.

The project also places strong emphasis on site de-sealing and sustainable stormwater management:

  • Vegetated swales will be created to manage and promote the infiltration of rainwater as close as possible to where it falls.
  • The parking areas will be paved with vegetated cellular paving, helping to reduce sealed surfaces and promote natural water infiltration.
  • The existing heavy-duty paved areas will be excavated and transformed into areas of rustic meadow, contributing to the restoration of permeable and vegetated surfaces.

These landscape interventions contribute to the enhancement of the outdoor areas and the restoration of biodiversity on the site, in line with the energy efficiency and eco-design approach adopted for the transformation of the Longueville drinking water plant.
