AR ARCHITECTES Supports the Intermunicipal Institution of the Wateringues in the Optimisation of the Rivière Neuve / Pierrettes Hydraulic System

AR ARCHITECTES, in partnership with the engineering consultancy SETEC HYDRATEC, is proud to support the Intermunicipal Institution of the Wateringues, the contracting authority, as part of the study for the optimisation of the River Neuve / Pierrettes hydraulic system, located in the municipalities of Calais and Hames-Boucres.

This project is set within a context of increased flood risk, linked to the very low elevation of the territory, the intensification of rainfall events, and maritime constraints, in an area historically structured by the Wateringues system. The studied structures aim to strengthen the protection of populations, infrastructure and environments, while improving the resilience of the territory in the face of climate change.

The study focuses on the creation and optimisation of 3 pumping stations, as well as on improving the overall operation of the existing hydraulic network. Particular attention is given to architectural, environmental, landscape and heritage issues, notably due to the proximity of historic monuments such as Fort Risban, requiring close collaboration with the services of the Architect of Historic Monuments (Architecte des Bâtiments de France).

AR ARCHITECTES and SETEC HYDRATEC thus design high-performance, sustainable and well-integrated technical structures, reconciling hydraulic requirements, architectural quality, local acceptance and respect for heritage.
